new Skype lost "contact window"

Skype version 8.32.0.44 seems to have lost the "Contact window " which used to be a small window that could be placed independently of anything else, in the corner of my desktop. I could then always view the users on line, or all my contacts, and the status of these users. They also could see what my status was. Has this been dropped or is it that I just do not know how to get this window on this version? Any help much appreciated.

Skype 8.x uses a larger window to have the contacts and the chat window open together:



People who are online at the time have a green dot in their avatar (see Skype Test Call in the picture above)

You can compact that window down to see only the contacts, but then when a chat or call comes in it is harder to respond because the program assumes you have the chat window open as well.
