out of range message planted in the middle of my screen

Hi, folks -

Today, when i signed onto my mac mini, there is a message square in the middle of the screen saying, "Out of range!". I can not get it to go away. the type has also changed (as you may see here) and the files on the screen are all very small. Did I accidentally hit a button that created this? I have tried turning off and on, unplugging and replugging.

It sounds as if you have accidentally changed the resolution of the connected monitor to something not supported. You may need to adjust the on-screen controls of the monitor -- not the Mac -- to resolve this.
