Photos for Mac - Years view

I have only dabbled in Photos, preferring until now to keep using iPhoto mainly. But now both I and my wife wish to commit to Photos from here on.

We are both using El Capitan 10.11.2 (on my iMac and her Air) and both using Photos 1.3

I could have sworn, in my earlier playing with Photos months ago, that when in the "Years" view of my photos, if I dragged my cursor over all those tiny tiny thumbnails, the one under the cursor would instantly zoom out to a bigger size so you could actually tell what the photo was. That way you could quickly scrub over the whole year's worth of tiny tiny thumbnails, and when you saw the one you were interested in enlarge you could then click on it to get it open to work with.'

Now that I have gone back to Photos on either machine to get back into this stuff, that enlarging doesn't seem to be happening.

Is this an action that has been removed, did I dream about that action working earlier or do both machines have a bug or setting wrong?

Without such an action, the "Years" view in Photos would seem to be practically useless.

Thanks for the confirmation on the Terry. I may send feedback to Apple on this point if no one else jumps in with a dissenting view.

You're right, not working here either. I'm wondering if they had a change of mind on this, or if its a bug. Send feedback on it, I'd recommend.
