Hey everyone, has anyone heard of the TEXTNow app? Apparently u can get a local number, Canada or US and use that for calling using wifi or data? Apparently it’s free with ads or there is a paid version.
Thanks

I'm usually wary of such apps because they tend to harvest a LOT of personal data. Looking at TextNow's listing in the App Store ... yeah forget privacy with that app, and it also tracks you when you're not using it. HARD PASS.

You can use FaceTime to place AUDIO calls, not just video calls, to other Apple users, which is a vastly preferable alternative but not well suited if the person you want to call is on some other device.

Unfortunately, the owners do not have an apple device. I will be dog sitting for 3 weeks near Stockton, and it will be necessary for me to have communication (no home phone)
I am looking at these test drives or monthly options. (I am in the states sept.9-Oct 4, then again end of November and dec. (I have used Verizon and visible test drives)
Tello
Mint (i understand one week test drive)
US mobile
Tracfone (Verizon)

I also thought to get a second number with Skype (as I have office 365) but that is not available in Canada.

I have not used the t mobile 3 month test drive as yet.
Thanks
