Time Machine

Would it be possible and worthwhile to go to Time Machine and step back about a month and bring forward the Mail Preference.
The mail system was working back then and struck me that if I could use the old preference it might get me back to "the good old days" of having a trouble free mail system....
If this is possible then please advise what file I am looking for and where it hangs out.

It’s not likely to fix the issue, but the preference file would be located in Users/(you)/Library/Preferences, and the file would be something like com.apple.mail.plist.

I repeat: this is not likely to fix the issue, and could make things worse. I’d suggest some consultant help if the port-adjusting suggestion from your provider didn’t help ...
