Volume control of computer via iPad

I had a great idea this afternoon, that would be, to have an Ap that controlled my computer volume. This came about just after I sat down with a glass of wine and then a new Reggae album came on and I needed to turn it up...wanted to do it on the iPad.
So having had this brainwave, I googled it, and yes it seems people have already thought of this.
I did download a program but it required a server program to work and this got me into deeper water that I was prepared for. So I wonder, does anyone have a working method or Ap for this?
The program I had tried was called Volume Remote, by Bemote.co as I recall. Bemote by magicbit, it was called on the Ap store.
The server software, my computer tells me, was from an unidentified party so it balked. I went into preferences and allowed it in, and loaded and ran the little Ap. Doesn't seem to work.
My old MBP is running Mavericks and my IPad is a couple years old with up to date iOS. And now as I write this, the new Reggae album is almost over, and it would be great to be able to play the next album or control the volume from the comfort of the easy chair. Thanks for any ideas.

I have an app on my iPhone called Remote (from Apple via the App Store) that does exactly this function. That's probably why you couldn't find much -- Apple already had that idea. :)

It works, Chas! Thanks!
If anyone is going to try this, you need to turn on 'home sharing' and supply your iCloud password on both the laptop and the iPhone. :D
