For commercial movie discs with copyguard protection, I'm not sure there is an easy answer -- but Handbrake would be the tool I'd suggest. It's free, and you can find it here:

A far simpler interface (i.e., easier to use) product is available, but not free. Ripit is $25US but it does the job in literally one click. You can investigate it here:

Likewise, these tools can rip non-commercial DVDs, and there's also good ol' Roxio Toast for this sort of thing.
