I have a 3TB EHD for my photos and an 8TB EHD as a backup for the photos plus Time Machine for the iMac hard drive. However, I do not have Time Machine running constantly. If I put the iMac to sleep or even a full shut down, it seems to take forever for the EHDs to subsequently
wake up.
More often than not I am forced to EJECT the EHDs (sometimes it is a forced ejection because a popup box indicates that:
"The disk "PRIME BACK UP" (or "PHOTOS") wasn't ejected because one or more programs may be using it. You can try to eject the disk again or click Force Eject to eject it immediately".
This occurs even if all programs have been closed.
I am reluctant to even Force Eject due to another popup box indicating "Ejecting the disk might cause problems with the disk or the information on it".
The EHD is then disconnected and reconnected and the wait begins again for the EHD to load. Neither EHD is close to capacity.
Has anybody else come across this issue and had to resort to speaking to Western Digital to resolve it?
