Last season I was whining about how my 8 year old MacBook Pro was going geriatric, things sewing to a crawl...
Then my brother-in-law offered to perma-loan me this nice big 27 inch iMac.
Suddenly the world if full of hope again!
The MBP is mostly retired!
The iMac is a mid-2011 27" iMac
3.1 GHz Intel Core i5
Running El Capitan 10.11.6
I have added some ram, now at 12 GB.
I have transferred my files over from the old MBP and attempted to resolve most issues... except...
I have some residual issues.
Dropbox
Upon boot-up Dropbox says: "Couldn't start Dropbox. This is usually because of a permissions error." etc...
I have been clicking ok and not using Dropbox, but I should really fix this.
EEventmanger.app
Also, again on boot-up I get a dialog that says "Do you want the application "EEventManager.app to accept incoming network connections? Clicking deny may limit the application's behaviour..." etc.
I have been clinking 'Allow' and would like this to resolve permanently.
Lastly the iMac had "Macs Fans Control" installed when I got it. Over the last few weeks I have run the iMac both with and without the Macs Fan Control operating, and without, the fans run full speed and are really distracting. My brother had this machine into the shop just before he brought it over, so I am assuming it is pretty clean inside. The Macs Fan control has requested 2 or 3 updates recently as they have been working through issues with El Capitan.
Finally, and what prompted this post, really, is that this morning the iMac hung when awaking from sleeping. Just got a spinning beach ball over a black screen, had to reboot. I now realize this has now occurred a few times over the last month or two since I got this machine.
Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated! (Are any Mac 'Genies' in Ladysmith?)
Cheers, happy rainfall...
